ELET 2111 Power Technology and Lab

In Power Technology, students study the theory of operation of electromechanical devices. The course includes DC shunt, series, and compound generators and motors, the basics of three-phase circuits, three-phase rectification, SCR and TRIAC motor controls, transformers, AC alternators, the theory of rotating magnetic fields, induction motors, synchronous motors, and various small AC motors. Students conduct laboratory exercises on the major types of motors, generators, and transformer connections.

Prerequisite(s): ELET 1120  or PHYS 1320  or permission of program coordinator
This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
