AOTP 1340 Instrument Pilot Simulator 2 Credit Hour(s) This course uses Advanced Aviation Training Devices (AATDs) to introduce students to basic instrument flying, communications, navigation, holding patterns, and instrument approaches. Students will ‘fly’ approximately 8 hours and observe approximately 8 hours on the AATDs. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate the operation of aircraft in accordance with FARs, AFMs, and approved procedures and policies.
- Interpret en route and terminal charts and approach plates.
- Describe and demonstrate use of VOR equipment and navigation.
- Describe and demonstrate use of GPS equipment and navigation.
Prerequisite(s): Student must hold FAA Private Pilot Certificate Single-engine Land. Corequisite(s): AOTP 1320 This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
