CHEM 1000 Chemistry for Health Sciences4 Credit Hour(s) This is a one-semester course designed to study the elementary concepts of inorganic, organic, and biochemistry. The course is not intended for science, engineering, or engineering technology majors. The course studies classification of matter, measurements, atomic theory, periodic table, nuclear processes, physical states of matter, solution chemistry, hydrocarbons, organic functional groups, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids, enzymes, and body fluids.
Prerequisite(s): ENGL 0820 and READ 0820 or equivalent. This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
