HIST 220 African American History3 Credit Hour(s) This course will examine this history of Africans and their descendants in the United States from the end of the Civil War to the present, investigating topics from emancipation to the ongoing struggle for Civil Rights. Connections between this history and the issues and concerns facing all Americans in the present will be explored. This course may be used as a Social Science elective. Students will be asked to acquire factual information, but the mere memorization of facts is less important than the analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of those historical facts.
