MECH 1390 Innovative Production and Problem Solving

This is a problem solving course in which students work in teams to develop an original solution to a well-defined and justified open-ended problem by applying knowledge and skills developed in previous courses. Students will define or be presented with a real-world manufacturing problem and will create multiple solution approaches. They will select an approach, and then create and test their prototype solution. Student teams will present and defend their original solution.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, students will demonstrate the ability to:

Operate as a productive member of a crosscross-functional to solve problems.
Apply and practice innovative problem-solving and manufacturing methodologies.
Use the right tool to solve the right problem by applying appropriate manufacturing, production, and/or programming techniques and methods.

This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
