BIOL 2010 Human Anatomy and Physiology I 4 (3 lecture hours; 3 lab hours) Credit Hour(s) This is the first of a two-semester course sequence for students meeting Nursing and Allied Health curriculum requirements. This course includes both lecture and laboratory. Students will receive an overview of cell biology. Organization of the human body, tissues, the structure and function of the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous systems and special senses will be covered. Students with a weak biological sciences background are encouraged to take BIOL 1300 , or BIOL 1010 .

Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the musculoskeletal structures of the human adult, including the major bones, muscles, connective tissues, and joints.
- Use the microscope and identify the structural tissues on the microscopic scale.
- Differentiate between the three types of muscle tissue and understand the function of each.
- Identify the organs of the central and peripheral nervous systems of the adult human.
- Identify the components of the eukaryotic cellular and understand human cellular physiology.
Prerequisite(s): ENGL 0810 and READ 0810 and MATH 0101 or MATH 0100 or MATH 0410 or MATH 0530 or equivalent.
