POLS 1030 American Government 3 (3 lecture hours) Credit Hour(s) The course presents the development, structure, and process of the American system of government.

- Recognize, describe, and explain social institutions, structures, and processes occurring within a complex global and diverse society.
- Think critically about how individuals are influenced by social institutions in their own and other diverse cultures.
- Investigate the relationship between individuals and societies as it affects personal behaviors, social development, and the quality of life of individuals, families, and communities.
- Analyze and communicate the values and processes that are used to formulate theories regarding the social context of individual human behavior in the social and behavioral sciences.
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- to identify and apply the constructs of American Government based on the aspects of the Constitution.
- be able to read chapters and recognize terms, concepts, and political values.
- will acquire skills by writing papers that reflect their recognition of cultural, political, social, and economic elements in a diverse society.
- will be able to analyze institutional functions of government, agencies, federal departments, and political players.
Prerequisite(s): ENGL 0810 and READ 0810 or equivalent
