SOCI 2020 Family in Global Perspective

This course focuses on the family as a global social institution and its responses to modernization, industrialization, and urbanization. Perspectives are presented from a sociological, anthropological, and ecological frame of reference.

Recognize the importance of theories, theorists, and theoretical perspectives to analyze the global family.
Recognize the use of various research methods used to analyze global variations in the family.
Examine the relationship between economic and geographical conditions on the family structure.
Explore the evolution of the family structure throughout the stages of human and social evolution.
