MECH 2441 Introduction to Totally Integrated Automation

This course is an introduction to Totally Integrated Automation of PLC systems. Topics covered will include the automation pyramid, analog sensors and actuators, STEP 7 functions, MPI-Bus and PROFIBUS systems, and systems maintenance and troubleshooting.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Develop basic PLC programs that integrate sensor and relay technologies in control circuits.
Construct and apply timers and counters in ladder logic programs.
Manipulate logic data and perform mathematical operations using ladder logic instructions.
Explain the fundamental principles of 2-wire bus cable and MPI-Bus communication systems.

Prerequisite(s): MECH 1340
