CITC 1342 Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

3 credit hours [2 lecture hours + 1 lab hour (3 lab contact hours/week)] Credit Hour(s)


This course introduces students to artificial intelligence (AI). Students will learn about the history of AI, its types, and its impact on society. Emphasis will be placed on the emergence of new, modern AI technologies and their ethical usage in education, business, and technology.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Explain and discuss the ethical uses of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
  • Discuss artificial intelligence’s impact on society.
  • Describe the history of artificial intelligence, generative pre-trained transformer models, and the transformer architecture.
  • Explain the processes of unsupervised learning, supervised learning, and reinforcement learning.
  • Demonstrate the use of supervised learning models on a dataset.
