ENST 2354 Metrology

In the Metrology class, a study of the science or measurement related to industrial applications will be taught. Students will learn how to read precision measuring instruments such as dial, and digital calipers, and micrometers. The units of measure that are applied are Imperial (feet, inches, lbs, etc.), and S.I. (mm, meters, kilograms, etc).
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Identify various types of measurement equipment used in industry.
  • Use various hand held measuring devices.
  • Calibrate various hand held measurement devices.


Prerequisite(s): ENST 1340 ENTC 1124 , or approval of the program coordinator.
This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university they intend to transfer to for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about the transferability of credits.
