The mission of the Mathematics department is to provide the mathematical skills required for career and transfer programs, and to prepare students for success in a culturally diverse environment. Additionally, the Mathematics department’s courses also fulfill the general education requirements for all Southwest degree programs. This degree is intended for students who intend to major in Mathematics or a related discipline of study at a university.

*Students who wish to pursue a concentration in actuarial science available at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga; Middle Tennessee State University; or Tennessee State University should complete ECON 21100 and ECON 2200 to fulfill the requirement in social/behavioral sciences.
