The Mechanical Engineering Technology program is designed to provide students with an effective blending of diverse industry-recognized skillsets through an offering of Concentrations, preparing program completers with the knowledge and skills needed for immediate entrance into the workforce.
Knowledge and skills emphasized in the program include, but are not limited to: material selection and applications; advanced manufacturing processes with applications; computer-based design and analysis; systems operations and management; and the reliability and maintenance of mechanical systems.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful program completion, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in using computer applications commonly employed in modern industry.
- Interpret and apply industry codes and practices essential for functioning effectively in an industrial environment.
- Analyze the properties of various materials and evaluate manufacturing processes used to convert these materials into finished products.
- Practice safe work habits and collaborate effectively within a team-based industrial setting.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and technical skills necessary to prepare for and successfully complete industry-recognized certification examinations.
- Operate and integrate advanced manufacturing technologies-including CIM, ASRS, CAD, and CNC to optimize productivity, cost efficiency, and quality in manufacturing and service environments.
