FIRE 1310 Principles of Emergency Services3 Credit Hour(s) This course provides a general synopsis of three public safety professions in the United States; the fire service, emergency medical services (EMS), and law enforcement. Students will be given an overview of career opportunities, culture and history of emergency services, basic analysis of fire loss, crime, and epidemiology, the organization and function of public and private emergency service provision, state and local government relationships with public safety agencies, as well as laws and regulations affecting public safety.
This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
