GART 2530 GART Portfolio Practicum I

3 Credit Hour(s)
In this course students develop and produce projects as they relate to the degree that they are graduating with. This will be achieved by displaying skills acquired in previous course work. All students will be required to produce both group and individual projects (either in digital or multimedia format). The development of a resume, personal business card and portfolio required of both disciplines for course completion. All work done in prior classes should, at this time, be refined and made portfolio ready. A final presentation of work must be presented to get credit for this course. One Macintosh computer per student is assigned for this course.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Graphic Arts Production Concentration:

  1. In-depth, multi-piece projects that are consistent in message, look and concept, using skills learned in previous courses.
  2. Application of applied demographics, budget, and time constraints to development and completion of real world projects.
  3. Critical evaluation of their own and other’s graphic work, and work that is found in the marketplace.
  4. Preparing a professional portfolio to industry expectations.

Interactive Multimedia Production Concentration:

  1. Create highly sophisticated projects that incorporate interactivity and animation.
  2. The use of advanced animation techniques, 3-dimensional graphics, and project management for multimedia.
  3. Create in-depth, multi-piece projects that are consistent in message, look and concept, using skills learned in previous courses.
  4. Proofing, speed, adherence to deadlines, project management, and project consistency.

Game Art and Design Concentration:

  1. Demonstrate technical proficiency and creative skills as related to the digital gaming field.
  2. Manage files and content in a manner suitable for industry.
  3. Create graphics applicable to gaming, marketing, advertising, educational, and interactive media that use 2D and 3D animation.
  4. Convey characters and concepts through traditional art methods.
  5. Demonstrate proficiency in game design, and visual communication.
