MLAB 2301 Immunohematology/Blood Bank 4 Credit Hour(s) The theory and practice of blood group antigens and antibodies, donor selection, and component therapy. Topics include: ABO grouping, Rh typing, cross matching, antibody screening and identification, quality control, donor screening, component preparation, hemolytic disease o the fetus and newborn, autoimmune hemolytic anemias, and adverse effects of transfusion. Prerequisite(s): Program Restriction - Enrollment limited to students admitted to the MLT program. This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
