LEGL 1340 Family Law

3 Credit Hour(s)
This course is required for all students pursuing a degree in Paralegal Studies. Students study the laws, procedures, and documents found in family law, and prepare various family law documents.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. locate the Tennessee statutes related to family law;
  2. describe how child support determinations are made;
  3. explain the factors used in child custody determinations;
  4. identify the grounds for divorce in Tennessee; and
  5. discuss the processes used in Tennessee paternity proceedings.


Prerequisite(s): LEGL 1300  with a “C” or better
