LEGL 1370 Trusts & Estates

This course introduces the student to estate planning and administration and the paralegal’s role in probate law. Students study the basic requirements for trusts and wills, the administration of a decedent’s estate, and the applicable Court rules.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

recognize and explain the function and purpose of wills;
distinguish the various forms of real and personal property ownership and explain the requirements for their creation and function;
understand the basic terminology of trusts;
identify and define the essential elements of trusts;
explain the components of estate planning.

Prerequisite(s): LEGL 1300 with a “C” or better
