LEGL 1370 Trusts & Estates 3 Credit Hour(s) This course introduces the student to estate planning and administration and the paralegal’s role in probate law. Students study the basic requirements for trusts and wills, the administration of a decedent’s estate, and the applicable Court rules. Student Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion, students will be able to:
- recognize and explain the function and purpose of wills;
- distinguish the various forms of real and personal property ownership and explain the requirements for their creation and function;
- understand the basic terminology of trusts;
- identify and define the essential elements of trusts;
- explain the components of estate planning.
Prerequisite(s): LEGL 1300 with a “C” or better
