LEGL 2340 Property Law

Students study the broad topic of real estate law and learn the various methods of ownership and the transactions involved in the sale and lease of real property. Emphasis is placed on information gathering, title searches, file management, and the preparation of documents used in basic real estate closings.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • demonstrate understanding of various methods of real property ownership;
  • ascertain aspects of an effective title search necessary for real estate transactions;
  • distinguish principles of file management to organize and maintain documentation throughout the real estate transaction process;
  • illustrate knowledge of the contents of closing statements essential for basic real estate transactions;
  • demonstrate knowledge of financing methods for the purchase of real property.
