FSED 2030 Embalming Practicum I

2 Credit Hour(s)
This course applies the theoretical aspects of an embalming operation. All embalming operations are performed under the direct supervision and instruction of a licensed embalmer and the Southwest Tennessee Community College Funeral Service Education faculty. Additional hours required.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will demonstrate the ability to:

  1. Demonstrate the proper use of personal protective equipment.
  2. Employ thorough cleaning and disinfection techniques.
  3. Analyze proper techniques for body positioning and setting facial features.
  4. Identify the location of vessels.
  5. Recognize the proper techniques to raise vessels.


Prerequisite(s):

 Admission to AAS/FSE Program, BIOL 2010  and FSED 1010  ; must pass all FSED designated courses with a grade of C or higher to progress to next level course
Corequisite(s): FSED 2020  ; must pass all FSED designated courses with a grade of C or higher to progress to next level course
This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
