NRSG 2740 Medical Surgical Nursing III 7 Credit Hour(s) This course applies the core concepts that provide the basis for the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are essential for providing safe nursing care including pharmacological management for adults with alterations in health of a more complex nature.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Apply ethical, legal and regulatory frameworks of nursing and standards of professional nursing practice.
- Apply effective communication techniques including information and technology.
- Assess subjective and objective data to identify actual or potential health alterations at the proficient nurse level.
- Use clinical decision making to provide safe and effective evidenced-based nursing care.
- Implement caring interventions that incorporate principles of dignity, diversity, safety and knowledge.
- Implement an individualized teaching plan to meet the learning needs of patients, families, and/or groups.
- Collaborate when planning and implementing care.
- Examine various principles of managing care.
Prerequisite(s): All 1st, 2nd, and 3rd semester nursing courses. Corequisite(s): NRSG 2240 This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
