WELD 2371 Gas Metal Arc Welding 3 Credit Hour(s) Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) uses a solid electrode wire that is continuously fed from a spool. In this class, an emphasis is placed on the making of fillet and groove welds in all positons with the GMAW process.
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Successfully pass the AWS D1.1 Plate certification for GMAW limited thickness.
- Set up and operate GMAW welding equipment.
- Set up and operate FCAW welding equipment.
Prerequisite(s): WELD 1381 This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
