INTR 2065 Practical Applications of Generative A.I. in Translation and Interpretation

3 Credit Hour(s)
This course explores the practical applications of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the fields of translation and interpretation. Through a combination of theoretical lectures, hands-on exercises, and real-world case studies, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of cutting-edge techniques and methodologies used in machine translation and interpretation. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement generative AI models for various language translation tasks.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

  • Analyze and critique existing generative AI models used in translation and interpretation.
  • Implement advanced techniques for training and fine-tuning generative AI models for specific language pairs and domains.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and limitations of generative AI models in practical translation and interpretation scenarios.
  • Design and execute experiments to measure the performance and quality of generative AI translations.
  • Synthesize research findings and propose innovative solutions to enhance generative AI systems for translation and interpretation.

This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
