ENGL 1020 English Composition II

A continuation of English Composition I, this course emphasizes synthesis and analysis based on critical reading. The course provides in-depth instruction in research and documentation skills.

  • Analyze essential rhetorical concepts, including purpose, audience, and context.
  • Compose a variety of original messages using effective written communication skills.
  • Apply appropriate communication skills to move an idea from process to outcome.
  • Integrate credible research into academic projects.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • write an original research paper, integrating multiple sources to support an assertion and constructing a Works Cited page according to the MLA style of documentation.
