The Exercise Science Tennessee Transfer Pathway Associates of Science degree is designed to provide students with a foundational degree to transfer to a baccalaureate program in Exercise Science or related field. The student will have the foundational knowledge to attain an entry level position in the career field after receiving this degree. With further education at the bachelor’s and graduate level, students may pursue a wide variety of career paths such as Athletic Training and Coaching, Exercise Physiology, Fitness Trainer, Health and Wellness Coaching, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physical Education, and many other allied health fields.


Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

  • Understanding and appreciation of various forms of physical activity through participation in a variety of physical fitness activities. 
  • Develop knowledge, skills, and abilities related to health and fitness assessment. 
  • Knowledge of core principles in Exercise Science, including program design, strength, and flexibility training, and concepts of lifelong health and wellness. 
  • Exposure to future career paths available to exercise science majors. 
  • Foundation in the field of Exercise Science in preparation for success when transferring to a baccalaureate program in Exercise Science or a related field. 

Second Semester: 15 Credit Hours


Total Credit Hours: 60


Review General Education pages and/or consult advisor for correct selection.


1) Students planning to attend UofM should take SOCI 1010: Intro to Sociology.
2) Students planning to attend UTC should take BIOL 1110: General Biology.
3) Students planning to attend UTC should take CHEM 1110/L: General Chemistry.
4) Students planning to attend UTC should take College Algebra or higher.
5) Students planning to attend UTC should take HLTH 1050 Personal Health.
