THEA 2990 Internship

3 Credit Hours (Minimum of 9 Internship Hours Per Week) Credit Hour(s)

A supervised work experience course, the internship hours are completed for one or a combination of the emphasis tracks for the certificate. Individual communication is arranged with the program coordinator in lieu of class attendance. The primary purpose of the internship is to provide a student with real-life work experiences related to the student’s concentration.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Skill Application and Technical Proficiency: The intern will apply learned technical skills-such as lighting, sound, rigging, or equipment operation-in real-world production settings, adapting techniques to meet specific needs in film, theatre, or conference environments and gaining proficiency in industry-standard tools and technologies.
Collaboration and Professional Communication: The intern will demonstrate effective collaboration and professional communication with team members, supervisors, and clients, contributing constructively to team projects and responding to feedback to meet production or event goals.
Problem-Solving and Adaptability Under Real-World Conditions: The intern will address entry-level technical challenges or unexpected issues as assigned, applying critical thinking and flexibility to resolve problems efficiently and maintain the quality and timeliness of production or event outcomes.

Prerequisite or Corequisite: THEA 1010, THEA 1025, THEA 1910;

First Semester Specialty Elective (THEA 1060 , ENTC 1124 , MUS 1000 , ARCT 1100 , ART 1045 , or THEA 2610 )

This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university they intend to transfer to for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about the transferability of credits.
