The Commercial Music Technical Certificate is an embedded certificate in the University Parallel, Music Emphasis, A.S degree. The certificate prepares students for employment in a field connected with music or to continue their curriculum to receive an A.S. degree. Students can select from one of three emphasis areas or a combination of all three: Instrumental, Production, or Vocal. The program includes core courses in music, theory, and related musicianship skills, music recording, music production, piano, instrumental and vocal performance as well as ensembles which will enable students to learn in active and collaborative settings.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in music theory, notation, and harmony.
- Demonstrate technical fluency, including the ability to perform assigned repertoire with correct notes and rhythms, good tone, and appropriate tempo.
- Demonstrate proficiency in ear and/or sight training on their instrument or vocals.
- Create musical demo recordings.
