Entertainment Production Technical Certificate

The Entertainment Production Technical Certificate prepares students for employment in backstage or A/V technical production fields connected with entertainment, news, or hospitality, or to continue their education toward an A.F.A. in Theatre Arts, Design-Tech, or Theatre Arts, Performance.
Students will select from one of five focus areas: Stage Management, Lighting, Sound/Audio, Stage Construction Technician, or Costuming, depending on their chosen electives. The program includes core courses in theatre with specialty courses in fields that enhance their specific areas of focus, such as project management, drawing, and electronics. Practicums and internships offer real-world examples of collaboration and execution.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this technical certificate, students will be able to:

  • Evaluate and apply the technical aspects of entertainment production. 
  • Operate various production equipment commonly used in theatrical and enterprise settings. 
  • Analyze and evaluate the historical, cultural, and technological advancements of theatrical and enterprise productions. 
  • Analyze scripts and literary works of art (ancient, pre-modern, and modern) for technological inspiration.
