Sport and Leisure Management Emphasis, A.S.

The Sport and Leisure Management Tennessee Transfer Pathway, Associate of Science degree, is designed to provide students with a foundational degree to transfer to a baccalaureate program in sport and leisure management. The student will have the foundational knowledge to attain an entry-level position in the career field after receiving this degree. The Sport Management major prepares the undergraduate student for a career in the sports industry. The student will develop sports industry-specific expertise in marketing, sales, revenue generation, event and facility management, and business communication. It serves as a foundation for upper-division coursework.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the scope of the sport industry.
- Demonstrate knowledge of professional practices associated with working in the sport management profession.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the historical and philosophical foundations of the sport management profession.
- Explain the importance of budgeting and financial management to sport-related organizations.
- Explain and apply principles of mass media, communication, promotion, and public relations, particularly in sport management.
- Communicate effectively and professionally via presentation and public speaking opportunities and in writing to both internal and external audiences.
