INTR 2090 Fieldwork in Interpretation and Translation 3 Credit Hour(s) Students complete X supervised hours in pre-approved placements for field experience; 25%-50% of the supervised hours must be shadowing a professional interpreter; 50%-75% of supervised hours must be interpreting and/or translating. The fieldwork supervisor must provide at least a midterm and final evaluation of the student’s performance. Student Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations through various placement opportunities
- Effectively interpret face-to-face encounters in various settings
- Demonstrate an understanding of diverse approaches necessary to be an effective interpreter
Prerequisite(s): INTR 1010 , INTR 1020 , INTR 2010 , INTR 2020 , AND any requirements of the fieldwork placement site (e.g., background checks, vaccination records, etc.) Corequisite(s): INTR 2080 This course is not designed for transfer to four-year universities. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
